i love that in noxus the medarda family owns a coliseum and in piltover mel owns the opera house though. i feel like that's such a good representation of how different mel is from her family

i always wondered what it would be like to not understand mel medarda as a character and you know what i guess i'll never know. i said that she probably had a lot of respect for viktor and felt betrayed when he became the herald and BAM. voicelines confirming exactly that. i said that her being a child of affair and her own philosophy of peace might lead noxians and other medardas to question her right to her family name and BAM official bio confirming it. im never gonna shut up abt this im sorry

to clarify btw because i mentioned in chapter 2 of the two mages au fic that mel's aunt took ambessa's place as the head of the house. it seems like canonically house medarda chooses its leader through trial by combat if the previous head had no named heir, which is what we see in the blood sweat and tears music video

i expanded on that in the fic to say that because mel is a child of affair, the other medardas could contest her position as head of the house because she would be an illegitimate heir. so in this au instead of facing her family and risking that being revealed (and because they would probably disapprove of her philosophy of diplomacy above all) she just left and conceded her position. what followed was a trial by combat like what ambessa faced and mel's aunt came out on top so that's why she's the head of the house. mel could still contest that if she challenged her though. just wanted to make that clear because not once in the show do they talk about the other medardas and basically everything we learn about them is from the supplemental material
